Opae Ula, also called Hawaiian red shrimp, are tiny, bright red shrimp native to anchialine pools in Hawaii. They’re famous for being extremely hardy and long-lived — often 15–20+ years with proper care. They’re low maintenance, but they do have very specific environmental needs.
Opae Ula are brackish water shrimp, not freshwater.
